All Walks of Life All Walks of Life Columbia Music Festival Association (CMFA) will present Edge of the Vista, a weekend of art and music, April 23- 25, 914 Pulaski Street in Columbia's Vista. The event will open Thursday, April 23 from 4- 9 pm with a free reception for

Brett Flashnick's Symbology,

a fine art photography exhibition.

This is one of several visual art shows taking place during Artista Vista, the Midlands largest gallery crawl. Friday night will feature All Walks of Life, a local acoustic rock band starring Cody Brock and Bobby Regalia. It is the first time CMFA's Artspace will be included in this annual spring happening.

With the CMFA's participation, the Board wanted to introduce new and emerging talent together with the collaboration of the visual and performing arts. John Whitehead, CMFA executive director and Steve Dingman, CMFA board member and Vista Guild liaison, working with SC Artist, Susan Lenz, explored avenues to uncover and showcase this talent. They found a youthful dynamic in the photography of Brett Flashnick.

Confederate by Brett Flashnick Confederate by Brett Flashnick Working as an award winning photojournalist for the past decade, Flashnick has taken this opportunity to delve into a new world of fine art photography by exploring concepts of symbols, cultural identity, and expressions of patriotism, faith, love, and even socioeconomic status.

Approximately fifteen, 16" x 20" format images will communicate how people desire connection with the larger world. His artistic approach is that of

a visual storyteller. Symbology

continues at CMFA's Artspace on Friday, April 24 from 10 am- 5 pm and again on Saturday, April 25 from 11 am- 3 pm. It is free to the public. (www.brettflashnick. com)
