The East Columbia Youth Basketball League won four state championships this season. The league is played out of Caughman Road Park located in the Lower Richland Community. This is the first time any league in the state has ever won four state championships in a single season. We are very proud of these young people. More ... On Friday March 20, the Dreher Blue Devils beat the Brookland- Cayce Bearcats 1- 0. Chandler Knox threw a complete game for Dreher, throwing five strikeouts and giving up only four hits. McKay Sharpe's dramatic equalizer in the 72nd minute for Dreher sent the match between the host Blue Devils and visiting Brookland- Cayce into overtime and eventually penalty kicks at Memorial Stadium on March 24. On Tuesday, March 24, the Irmo Yellow Jackets beat the Richland Northeast Cavaliers 5- 1. Irmo was led by pitcher Tony Ford, who threw a complete game giving up one run on eight hits and striking out six. Richland Northeast was led by Ryan Mercer, who pitched a complete game giving up five runs on 11 hits and striking out ten. More ...
