On Friday, March 13 the Heathwood Hall Highlanders came from behind to beat the Hammond Skyhawks 7- 6. The Highlanders received a complete game from Melton Bristow, who also helped his cause with two RBIs. Hammond received five strong innings from Kyle Grant, who allowed just five hits and struck out six batters.

Both teams battled through two scoreless innings before Heathwood Hall put on a rally to take an early lead at the top of the third inning. After consecutive walks to Christ Barton and Walker Sojourner to put runners on first and second base, Grant gave up a two run double to Bristow to give Heathwood Hall an early 2- 0 lead.

Hammond responded in the bottom of the inning. The bases were loaded for Raymond Prince. The third baseman hit a two run double to tie the game at two. Jay Talbot came to bat next and hit a three run home run to deep center field to give the Skyhawks their first lead at 5- 2.

That was the score through the next three innings, as Heathwood came to bat in the top of the seventh. The bases were loaded for Walker Pruett, who hit a single that scored Sojourner. Thorn Cathcart was the next batter. He hit a single that scored Bristow to cut the Hammond lead to 5- 4.

Morgan Whalen then hit a single to tie the game. Pitcher Andrew Lamb was called for a balk allowing the go ahead run to come in for Heathwood Hall, giving the Highlanders a 6- 5 lead. An RBI single by Derek Kaczmarski ended the scoring for Heathwood Hall, giving the Highlanders a 7- 5 lead going into the bottom of the seventh.

After Kyle Towles was hit by a pitch and Prince singled, Hammond had players at first and second with Talbot coming to the plate. Talbot hit a single, scoring Towles to cut the lead to 7- 6. However, Bristow slammed the door on Hammond's efforts to mount a comeback. He forced Lamb to pop up and struck out James Wallcup to preserve the 7- 6 win for Heathwood Hall.
