Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands announces new executive director
Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands (STSM) has a new executive director, Genevieve N. Waller, Esq. Waller previously served as the director of development and interim executive director. She received her law degree in 2003 and was chosen as the South Carolina Bar Young Lawyer of the Year for 2007- 2008. Most recently, she graduated from the SC Bar Young Lawyers Division Leadership Academy. She is also a member of Leadership Columbia Class of 2009.
In 2007, Waller was elected by the SC Bar Young Lawyers Division as the District 10 Representative to the American Bar Association's Young Lawyer's Division (ABAYLD) for a two- year term and was appointed by the ABA- YLD Chair to the Public Service Project Team on Domestic Violence: Voices Against Violence for 2008- 2009. She received an ABA- YLD Star of the Quarter for her work on that awareness and prevention project.
Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands, formerly named Rape Crisis Network, is a private, nonprofit, United Way member agency committed to providing free, direct services to survivors of sexual assault, including 24- hour crisis hotline, hospital accompaniment, court accompaniment, personal advocacy, and individual and group counseling, and education about sexual trauma issues in Richland, Lexington, and Newberry Counties.
