President Woodrow Wilson appears at the Golden K. Kiwanis Club
Dr. Edward Beardsley as President Woodrow Wilson The Golden K. Kiwanis Club had a visit from President Woodrow Wilson played by Dr. Edward Beardsley. The title of Beardsley's presentation was "A Frustration of High Hopes, Woodrow Wilson, The Great War and American Rejection of the League of Nations." The presentation focused on Wilson's leadership during The Great War. Wilson was in Colorado promoting the League of Nations. Wilson initially kept the U.S. neutral, than guided the country as a combatant in the hope of making the bloody conflict a "war to end all wars." The United Nations today is based on some of Wilson's ideas. Dr. Beardsley presented a slide show of photographs taken during WWI.
President Wilson lived the the Wilson home on Hampton Street, which is now on the historic register. His parents are buried in First Presbyterian Church cemetery on Lady Street.
Dr. Beardsley, a retired history professor from USC, has brought history alive through his portrayal of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt, Benjamin Franklin, and Woodrow Wilson.
