On Friday, February 20, the Spring Valley Vikings defeated the Byrnes Rebels 70- 49. The Vikings had three players finish in double figures led by Shaquita Walker with 19. Asia Dozier and Briana Robinson contributed with 15 and 14 points respectively. Byrnes was led by Mimi Peake and Tiffanie Adair. Both players finished with 12 points.

In the first quarter, Byrnes came out fighting. Four different players scored to give the Rebels an early 9- 6 lead. Spring Valley fought back with points from Dozier and Walker, and the Vikings quickly took a 13- 9 lead.

Byrnes stayed in the game with buckets from Bekah Frost and Breezy Hamilton to cut the lead to 18- 17. However, Walker hit the final bucket of the quarter to give Spring Valley a 20- 17 lead.

In the second quarter, Spring Valley began to pull away. Five different players scored during a 10- 4 run by the Vikings to open up a 30- 21 lead. Byrnes cut the lead to seven with a bucket by Adair, but Spring Valley went on a 7- 0 run to end the quarter led by Asia Dozier who provided four points. At halftime Spring Valley held a 40- 26 lead.

After Spring Valley had stretched the lead to 16, Byrnes scored four straight points to cut the lead to 42- 20. However, Robinson helped the Vikings maintain a comfortable margin. She provided four of the final eight points for Spring Valley, as the Vikings held a 50- 35 lead at the end of the quarter.

Spring Valley put the game out of reach in the fourth. The Vikings increased the lead to 19 before Byrnes scored nine out of the next 13 points to cut the score to 58- 44. Peake led the way during that run with six points. However, Spring Valley went on a 10- 3 run with points from Dozier, Robinson, and Walker to make the score 68- 47. Two free throws from Tayana Albritton helped put the final touches on the second round victory.
