The Columbia Garden Club invites you to a Garden pARTy on Friday, March 6, 2009, at the historic Seibel's House from 7 - 10 pm. The event is to benefit the Historic Columbia Foundation's Garden Restoration Project. This gala event will feature a South Carolina art show and sale, a catered reception, and entertainment in the beautiful home and gardens. From 4:30- 6 pm the art show will also serve as the opening reception for Historic Columbia's unique two- day forum, "Historic Gardens Symposium."

All profits from the Garden pARTy will be donated to the Garden Restoration Project through the Columbia Garden Club Foundation. This ambitious landscape preservation project is a way to restore the gardens of Historic Columbia's house museums and create a unique campus- like district among the sites to significantly enhance community access and enjoyment. In addition, the results of this project will be a major draw for heritage tourism and an important asset to the economic development of our city.

A partial listing of the artists featured are Clark Ellefson, Mary Gilkerson, Anne Hubbard, Roger Hutchinson, Heather La Haise, Michel McNinch, Paul Moore, David Russell, Blanch Quinn, Nini Ward, Beth West, and Ellen Yaghjian. Also, by special arrangement with the Yaghjian family, selected works of Edmund Yaghjian will be included in the show for sale.

Since 1926 the Columbia Garden Club has contributed generously through both service and monetary donations to promote gardening, conservation, and civic beautification. The Garden Restoration Project is a collaborative effort among the Historic Columbia Foundation, community leaders, and government officials that will have a significant and lasting impact upon the quality of life in our community. The Columbia Garden Club has committed to do its part by pledging $100,000.00 to this outstanding project.
