Betty McGregor, the 2009 SC Mother of the Year, with her family Betty Ulmer McGregor has been named the 2009 SC Mother of the Year. Betty, a native of Cameron, and her husband of 56 years, Sam E. McGregor, reside in Hopkins, where they raised five children and operated a family dairy farm. Betty McGregor is a Columbia College graduate, class of 1951. She has received numerous honors for leadership and community service, including the Columbia College Alumnae Association Distinguished Service Award, the Clemson Extension Service Volunteer Award, the SC Family and Community Leadership Award, the Presbyterian Honorary Life Member Award. McGregor will be a contender for the American Mothers ® National Mother of the Year.
