Salvation Army awards Battle of the Bells trophy to Heathwood Hall

Salvation Army officials recently recognized the student body at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School for winning the 2008 Battle of the Bells competition. The school raised an impressive $2,110.63 at four stores where members of the National Honor Society, Key Club, and Student Government, along with faculty and staff rang bells during the daylong service project held on December 13.
"We appreciate Heathwood Hall and its commitment to this competition," said Captain Gene E. Harrell Jr., area coordinator for The Salvation Army in Columbia. "They bring so much enthusiasm to raising funds for The Salvation Army. It is a privilege to be here with students and faculty today."
Other area schools that participated include second place winner Dutch Fork Air Force JROTC, which raised $1,485.48 and third place winner White Knoll High School National Honor Society which raised $1,143.25.
