Congaree National Park welcomes cardinal fans on Superbowl Sunday

Contributed by Congaree National Park

Congaree National Park is offering a "Bird Feeding Workshop" February 1, Superbowl Sunday at 1 pm led by Park Ranger Kathleen O'Grady.

"Congaree National Park has been designated a Globally Important Bird Area, so what better place to come to learn how to attract birds!" states O'Grady. "You will learn how to attract a wide variety of birds, including cardinals, but frankly, I'm pulling for the Steelers."

The program is free and open to the first 24 to sign up.

Participants may register for the program at the Harry Hampton Visitor Center at Congaree National Park or call 776- 4396 extension 0. Space is limited and reservations are on a first come basis. Participants should bring a clean, empty two- liter bottle.

This program kicks off Congaree's celebration of the Great Backyard Bird Count which occurs February 13- 16. More events are planned over the next two weeks. Additionally, there will be other opportunities to experience the National Park including guided canoe tours, owl prowls (night walks), tree treks, and Wilderness hikes. All programs are free.
