The Columbia Council of Neighborhoods met Thursday, December 22. After a vote passed to adopt the agenda, the meeting began with a look at business matters. Bruce Sanders provided the treasurer's report. The current balance stands at $11,999.60 for the council.

One of the main topics of discussion was standards for the Neighborhood Hall of Fame. Tige Watts provided a document establishing the standards for eligibility.

1.The nominees should be considered based on their contributions to their neighborhood, neighborhood organizations, or to the CCN.

2. They must be nominated by the Hall of Fame committee and voted on by the member neighborhoods of the CCN.

3. They must have be a resident of a Columbia neighborhood and have been active for five years.

4. After the February meeting, the committee will present a slate of 12 nominees from which the neighborhood will choose.

5. Voting will be held in March and inductees either have to have 50% of the vote or be one of the top three vote- getters.

6. CCN presidents will be inducted immediately after his/her term, and nominees not selected to the Hall of Fame may be considered for nomination again in subsequent years.

Jerry Cowden, a representative from the FCC, was the guest speaker. He talked about the television switch next month. There are three options for residents. Those options are to subscribe to cable or satellite, buy a digital television, or to buy a converter box. The NTIA provides $40 coupons for residents who choose to buy the converter box; however, there is a waiting list for the coupons. WIS will hold a training session for residents who want to learn more about DTV February 9 at 10:30 am. Also, WIS will be changing frequencies on February 18. Cowden's other message was to help residents with the transition.

A new CCN logo was unveiled. The council had been working for a year and a half to come up with the modifications to the logo. The middle was changed as well as a star was put in the middle of the state on the logo to represent Columbia.
