Students at Killian launch airplanes
Lewis Mathis Ready, set, go! Students in Julie Sheehan and Richard Handy's math class at Killian Elementary launched airplanes as part of their standard and metric measurement study.
Prior to the airplane activity, students used standard and non standard units to measure various objects in the classroom.
Practice was given using rulers and tape measures.
The class discussed jobs and careers that would benefit from knowing how to measure objects.
The longest flight recorded was a little over 26 feet by Lewis Mathis in the third grade.
