Mimi M. Maddock became the fourth person to hold the position of publisher at The Columbia Star since its founding 46 years ago. Warner M. Montgomery officially retired January 1 after serving as publisher of Columbia's only locally- owned newspaper since 1996. The Columbia Star is owned by the Star Reporter Corporation. Montgomery will remain as president of the corporation. Maddock will continue as secretary- treasurer.

The Columbia Star began as The Star Reporter in 1963 with Harold Booker as publisher, Mary Booker as editor, and W. Miller Montgomery as advertising manager. At Harold Booker's death in 1986, Montgomery became the newspaper's second publisher. He served in that position until his death in 1996.

Mike Maddock is now the general manager/ editor and Linda G. Sosbee is financial/sales manager. Pam Clark is office manager and legal advertising manager.
