PAALS, Palmetto Animal Assisted Life Services and Richland County Recreation Commission (RCRC) are hosting two weeks of service dog camp for youth for the summer of 2009 at Crane Creek Community Center in Columbia. Beginner Camp will run July 20- July 24, 2009. Camp schedule is Monday- Friday 8:30 am- 12:30 pm. Campers will learn the basics of service dog training, community service ethics, and empathy for people with disabilities, all while pairing up to train a service dog candidate. This camp's fee is $175. Another RCRC camp is available for each afternoon until 6 pm.

The second week of camp offered is an Advanced Camp for returnees & Special needs: Ages 12- 16 for returnees and ages 11- 19 for special needs. This program will run July 27- July 31, 2009. Camp schedule is Monday- Friday 8:30am- 3:30pm.

The camp fee is $250 and another RCRC camp will be available for each afternoon until 6 pm. This camp is also located at Crane Creek Community Center.
