Final auction of delinquent properties

2009-01-09 / Government / Neighborhood

Sealed bids accepted through January 12
Contributed by County of Richland County Office of County Treasurer

The Richland County Treasurer's Office is conducting a sealed bid auction of the properties that were not sold at the Tax Sale in November 2008. It will be the largest sealed bid auction Richland County has conducted since records have been kept. Over three hundred properties that have not paid taxes since bills were issued in October 2007 will go to the highest bidder.

The sealed bids must be in the Treasurer's Office by January 12, 2009, to be considered valid. The successful bids must be paid in full - with certified funds - by January 16. Money received in this process will be used to cover $1 million in city, school, and county revenues that operate essential government services.

Defaulting taxpayers will still have until November 4, 2009, to redeem their property with penalties and interest.

All information on the sealed bid process can be found on- line at www.rcgov.us/treasurer at the bottom of the homepage.
