The Columbia Philatelic Society's Winter Stamp and Postcard Show will be held at Spring Valley High School January 24 and 25, 2009. This annual event will feature 14 stamp and postcard dealers from around the southeast who will have a large stock of stamps, covers, postcards, and collecting supplies for sale. The public may also bring in items or collections for possible sale to the dealers.

Stamp dealers expected to have tables at the show are Richard Canupp of Asheville, N.C.; John Jacobs, Matthews, N.C.; Cary Cochran, Locust, N.C.; Hank DeBoer, St. Augustine, Fla.; George Hosfiel, Blowing Rock, N.C.; Peter Schwender, Venice, Fla.; Pat Campbell, Jacksonville, Fla.; Bill Vance, Joelton, Tenn.; Fred Brafford, Shalimar, Fla; Tony Crumbley, Charlotte, N.C.; Dutch Shultz, Atlanta, Ga.; and Peter Dearing, Jacksonville, Fla.

Postcard dealers present will be Steve Garris and Steve Neis of Columbia, S.C.

The show offers something for everyone from children and beginning collectors to the most advanced collector. There will be drawings for door prizes every hour.

There will be dealers present specializing in United States stamps as well as those who sell stamps from all over the world. At least one dealer has a large stock of Confederate States items. One dealer sells only low priced stamps with every stamp in his stock, regardless of catalogue value, on sale for 10¢ each.

One of the postcard dealers has one of the largest stocks of any on line dealer in the world. A large portion of his stock will be on display at the show.

The show will be held in the new Spring Valley High School cafeteria, 120 Sparkleberry Lane, Columbia, S.C. Times are 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday, January 24 and 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday, January 25, 2009. Admission and parking is free.
