Spring Valley's Ryan Jenkins goes in for the lay up against Irmo.

The Irmo Yellow Jackets (4- 0) defeated the Spring Valley Vikings (0- 1), 89- 81 on Tuesday Night, December 2, at Spring Valley. Jeremy Clinkscales led Irmo with 23 points. Spring Valley's Jamil Jones led all scorers with 32, while Ronald Zimmerman added 26 points for the Vikings.

The Vikings jumped out to an early 5- 2 lead, behind a three pointer from Zimmerman. However, the Yellow Jackets turned on the offense to take a commanding 23- 11 lead. Spring Valley kept the deficit within reach; a three pointer at the end of the first quarter by SeDarian Dantzer cut the lead to 25- 18.

The second quarter saw Spring Valley tie the game on several occasions and the Vikings took the lead for a brief moment. The Yellow Jackets fought back, taking a nine point lead, before Jones hit a half court shot to cut the lead to six at halftime.

In the second half, the Vikings rallied back to take the lead, but an 11- 0 run gave Irmo a 71- 60 advantage. Despite a strong performance in the second half by Jones and Zimmerman, the Yellow Jackets continued to make key baskets when it counted and were able to hold on to the 89- 81 win.
