Ben Lippen School is pleased to announce the hiring of Kurt Seibert as the head coach of the baseball program. Coach Seibert is no stranger to South Carolina baseball. He played and coached under the legendary Bill Wilhelm at Clemson University for parts of three decades. While playing at Clemson, Seibert was named All American as well as first team all ACC twice.

After playing in the College World Series, he was selected in the third round of the Major League draft by the Chicago Cubs. Seibert reached the majors in 1979 and fulfilled his childhood dream of playing in Wrigley Field.

Since relocating to South Carolina in 2004 with his wife Jena, Coach Seibert has been coaching teams at all levels in USSSA and AAU. Recently, he led the Irmo/Chapin American Legion Post 174 to an upstate championship and third place status in the state tournament. This past fall he continued coaching the Lexington Longhorn 16 year olds who won six tournaments under his direction.

Coach Seibert has been coaching, teaching, and instructing for 30 years in Texas, Georgia, Washington, D.C., Maryland, and South Carolina. He has instructed many baseball players who have reached the professional ranks.

Coach Seibert is excited about leading the Falcon Baseball program and says he "looks forward to sharing Christ, baseball, and Ben Lippen with the Columbia community."

Coach Seibert's year round camps, clinics and workouts will emphasize being positive, showing respect, having integrity, walking with dignity, and playing with enthusiasm.

Former coach Brent Walsh, who led the Falcons to the SCISA 3A state finals the last two years including a championship in 2008, is now an assistant coach at the College of Charleston.
