Busbee sets new standard for SCISA wrestling

Heathwood Hall wrestler Preston Busbee Heathwood Hall wrestler Preston Busbee Heathwood Hall senior, Preston Busbee won the 112 pound division championship of the Taco Bell Wrestling Invitational held December 19- 20 at Spring Valley High School.

Busbee received a bye in the first round but wrestled four matches that totaled less than three minutes. He recorded four pins in 21 seconds, 81 seconds, 30 seconds, and 29 seconds, respectively.

The Taco Bell Wrestling Invitational is one of the most prestigious tournaments in South Carolina high school wrestling. Busbee defeated outstanding opponents from 3A schools Dreher and Chapin and 4A schools Beaufort and Dutch Fork.

Until Saturday, no SCISA wrestler had ever been a champion in this tournament. The Hammond Skyhawks have had multiple runner- ups in the past several years, but this is a first for a SCISA wrestler.
