The Assembly holds 120th ball December 22, 2008
      The Assembly, established in 1889, held its 120th annual ball Monday, December 22, 2008, at eight o'clock in the evening in the ballroom of the Columbia Marriott. Guests were received by Mrs. John Donald Dial Jr., president, and Mr. Dial; Mrs. Douglas McKay III, president- elect and Mr. McKay; and the debutante daughters and granddaughters.

      Mr. and Mrs. John Donald Dial Jr. announce the engagement of their daughter Mary Caldwell Robertson Dial, formerly of Columbia, to Robert Dennis Bovard of Washington, DC. A spring wedding is planned at St. Timothy's Church in Columbia.

      The Greater Columbia Junior Cotillion recently celebrated its 15th annual Holly Ball. Students from local middle schools did the foxtrot, the shag, and the electric slide. Junior Cotillion not only teaches students how to dance, it teaches participants impeccable manners.
