Eagles soar over 'Cats

On Tuesday night, December 16, the Chapin Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Bearcats 71- 41 at Brookland- Cayce. The Lady Eagles were led by Ashlee Wilson with 23 points and Alexa Conners who added 18. Taylor Vinson led the Lady Bearcats with 13 points and Asia Benn added eight.
The first quarter started out pretty close, with Chapin jumping out to an early 13- 10 lead. Benn contributed a couple of baskets to try to keep the deficit within reach. However, a few defensive stops by the Eagles along with some big three point shots, including one at the end of the first quarter, gave the Eagles a 25- 14 lead.
In the second quarter, the Eagles began pulling away. Vinson and Shuvonta Smalls contributed two early baskets to cut the Chapin lead to single digits at 27- 18. That was when the Lady Eagles took over. Chapin closed out the quarter on an 18- 6 run to end the half with a 45- 24 lead.
The Lady Eagles went on a 12- 4 run and finished out the third quarter with four straight points to lead 63- 33.
Chapin spent the fourth quarter finishing off the game. Benn and Vinson refused to give up, combining for six points in the final quarter. However it was not enough as the Eagles poured in eight points in the final quarter to win the game 71- 41.
