Richland One Hall of Fame Gala to be held January 10
Charles Beaman, Jr. Four Richland One graduates who have distinguished themselves in the fields of education, health care, and law will be inducted into the Richland One Hall of Fame at a gala to be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at 6 pm at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln St.
Members of the 2008 Hall of Fame induction class are
•Fannie Phelps Adams, a 1934 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School whose career as an educator in Richland One spanned more than 40 years.
•Char les D. Beaman J r., a 1969 graduate of Dreher High School, who is president and chief executive officer of Palmetto Health, the largest integrated health care delivery system in South Carolina.
•Dr. Gar y B. Bell, a 1974 graduate of Columbia High School who has volunteered his time to help the medically underserved at the local, state, national, and international levels.
•The Honorable Judge Willie T. Smith Jr., a 1936 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School who was a Family Court judge in Greenville County and a participant in several pivotal desegregation cases. Judge Smith died in December 2002.
Fannie Phelps Adams The fifth annual Richland One Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Gala is sponsored by the Partners In Education (PIE) Foundation and includes a reception at 6 pm, followed by the induction ceremony and dinner at 7 pm.
Tickets are $40 for district employees and $75 for the general public. Tickets may be purchased in the lobby of the Stevenson Administration Building, 1616 Richland Street on Monday, January 5 from 3- 5 pm. Tickets will not be sold at the door on the day of the event.

The Richland One Hall of Fame was created to recognize the many district alumni and other persons who have made significant con- tributions to Richland One, their communities, their professions and society as a whole. Twenty- one persons have been inducted since the Hall of Fame was established in 2004.
