Richland Two dedicates Bridge Creek Elementary
      A dedication ceremony for Bridge Creek Elementary School took place Thursday, November 20 at 1 pm in the schools multipurpose room. The ribbon- cutting honors were given to school board members: Susan Brill, Chip Jackson and Barbara Specter, Bridge Creek principal Dr. Felix Figueroa and superintendent Dr. Stephen Hefner.

Eddie's New Year's Eve Noon Countdown
     Eddie's New Year's Eve Noon Countdown, a family- friendly celebration at EdVenture Children's Museum begins at 9 am Wednesday, December 31, 2008. Children can make their own noisemakers and party hats in the Aha Factory, enjoy line dancing, a bubble- wrap stomp, party music with a live DJ, and an exciting kid- style countdown to noon on Eddie's wristwatch. Spring Valley students win Farm- City photography contest
     Spring Valley High School photography students Stephanie Slaughter, Lindsey Miller, and Brett Watts, were winners in the 2009 Farm- City Photography Competition. The students will be presented cash awards at an awards luncheon, and their winning photographs will be used for conservation promotion purposes. Watts won first place, Miller won second place, and Slaughter, Honorable Mention.

      Four Richland One graduates who have distinguished themselves in the fields of education, health care, and law will be inducted into the Richland One Hall of Fame at a gala to be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at 6 pm at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln St.

Spring Valley High School news
      Grayson Beard, a 12th grader in the Viking Singers and also an AP music theory student, was selected as a tenor in the South Carolina All- State SATB Choir based upon the results of his vocal audition at USC in November. Dr. Glenda George, assistant principal for curriculum at Spring Valley High, was selected by SCASA as the SC Assistant Principal of the Year.

BMS Students Win SC Middle School Mock Trial Regional Competition
     Contributed by Blythewood Middle School Blythewood Middle School students won SC Middle School Mock Trial Regional Competition receiving the Advancement Award on November 22, 2008. The team participated in the state finals December 6, 2008. Although the team did not make it to the final round, awards were presented to Raven Suber and Brynne Wyatt (most effective witnesses); Anna Mallard and Brittany Lopetrone (most effective attorneys). Team members are 8th grade: Anna Mallard (Attorney), Morgan Burns (Witness), Natalia Mandujano (Attorney), Brynne Wyatt (Witness), Morgan Lewis (Attorney), Eboni Drake (Witness), Brittany Jerome (Attorney), Brittany Lopetrone (Attorney), Helen Burgess (Attorney), Kristen Metcalf (Attorney), Raven Suber (Witness), Thomas Olds (Witness), Autumn Garcia (Attorney), Imani Wiley- English (Witness) 6th grade: Thomas Neal (Bailiff/Time-keeper). Students demonstrate positive character and life skills
     On Friday, December 12, Blythewood Middle School held its Character Awards Breakfast. Twenty-four students were honored for consistently demonstrating positive character and life skills.The Character Awards Breakfast is just one of the many ways the BMS faculty shows appreciation for good citizenship. The students recognized were Walter Ballentine, Ben Conner, Bijonae Jones, Taylor Campbell, Kathy Valle, Alyssa Castelluccio, Katie Turner, Ryan Cummings, Kristen Brumble, McLain Limehouse, Palmer Reynolds, Logan Stewart, Jennifer Chornlesky, Ashira Sims, Chris Anderson, Hunter Wooten, Megan Smalls, Jake Cooper, Jonathon Lamkin, Brandon Seawright, Quantaria Watson, Gabby Morgan, Jimelya McKiever, and Brittany Jerome.

Forest Acres mayor returns to the scene
      When Crayton Middle School was a comprehensive school serving grades one through eight, young Frank Brunson was a student. Crayton made a huge impact on his life in many ways, but one of his favorite memories is the day he was given a Dogwood Tree at an Arbor Day celebration to plant in his very own yard.
