File Photos Jake Motto Coach Kevin Rose's 2008- 2009 Cardinal Newman's men's basketball team should be one of the most experienced that Coach Rose has had in his three years as the varsity coach. There are seven seniors and two juniors from a team that finished 20- 11 last year and made it to the quarterfinals before falling to Porter Gaud. Despite losing three starters there is still reason for optimism.

"We return a lot of experience, so there will be no real big difference from last year," Coach Rose said.

Coach Rose will have to rely on returning starters Jake Motto and Zach Hrovat to provide leadership to this veteran Cardinal squad. Edward Dannelly and Twan Alewine are other players that should make big contributions to a Cardinal team with high expectations.

"We are well disciplined. We hope to finish first in the conference," Coach Rose said.

With the good guard play, good post presence, and the experience the seven seniors bring to this team, Cardinal Newman should make a formidable foe to its opponents.
