File Photo Mitchell Deter With a competitive team and a balance of seniors and younger players, the Ben Lippen Falcons expect to be competitive throughout the 2008- 2009 season. Starting with a tournament in Hilton Head in late December, the Falcons' up- tempo pace should produce a fun team to watch and an exciting team to follow.

Led by juniors Mitchell Deter and Andre Hennie, Ben Lippen features an aggressive and hard- working attack. From a fast- paced offensive plan to tight man- to- man defense, the Falcons will physically and mentally challenge each opponent. As role players begin to fill out the breadth of the team, Ben Lippen's ability to earn maximum production will be a key to its success.

The Hilton Head tournament, with games against Hilton Head Prep and Hilton Head Christian, will provide a good, early test for the Falcons. The trip will give the coaching staff an indication of where they stand as a team and how best to tackle the ensuing region games.

Coach Mick Shoemaker will be counting on his most productive players to also be good team leaders. While the numbers are important to get results, so too is playing as a cohesive team. If the Falcons can play together and create an up- tempo style of play, expect a strong season from Ben Lippen.
