Dyane Dye Wood Kellogg of Little River, SC, proposed her children's great- grandmother Sarah Catherine Robins Wood (1855- 1932) as the 2008 Pioneer Woman of the Year in the contest sponsored by the Oklahoma Historical Society, Oklahoma City, which has under its aegis the Pioneer Woman Museum, Ponca City, Oklahoma. The winner was Sarah Robins Wood, whose mother, Sarah Turner Robins, was born in S.C.

Dyane Wood Kellogg's daughter Paula Wood Neal of Tulsa, Oklahoma, descendant of Sarah's oldest son, Robert Harrison's oldest son, H. Robert Wood, accepted the award.

Sarah Catherine Robins, fondly called Sallie, was educated at home. She married Dr. Virgil Andrew Wood at age 18. She had 11 children who she inspired to pursue higher education. Nine of the Wood children attended the University of Oklahoma, seven receiving degrees. The couple has the distinction of having the largest number of descendants of any family having attended the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Wood died in 1925 and the whole town turned out for his funeral. The two are buried side by side at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Blackwell, Oklahoma. When Sallie died in 1932 a woman's circle of the Blackwell Baptist Church was named in her honor.
