Ms. Black and Mr. Nichols wed August 2, 2008, in Greenville
Mr. and Mrs. James Todd Nichols Susan Leigh Smarr Black and James Todd Nichols exchanged wedding vows on August 2, 2008, at The Commerce Club, Greenville, South Carolina. Retired Rev. George H. Nichols Jr., father of the bridegroom, officiated the 6 pm ceremony. A reception followed.
The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse A. Smarr of Columbia, is the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Roy G. Smarr and the late Mr. and Mrs. Hugh V. Satterfield. She is a 1985 cum laude graduate of the University of South Carolina with a BA in journalism. She is currently
publisher of Apparel Magazine.
The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Nichols Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina, is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mr. George H. Nichols Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. John R. Tollner. He is a 1985 graduate of Clemson University with a BS in chemical engineering. He is presently a project manager at Jacobs Engineering.
The bride was escorted by her father. Kathleen Trewhella- Grant was maid of honor and Mrs. Lisa Kathryn Smarr was matron of honor. Mr. Andrew Honeycutt was best man. The couple's three children, Miss Kate Anderson Black, Mr. Wesley Collin Nichols, and Miss Kathleen Marie Nichols, also took part in the ceremony. Music for both the ceremony and reception was provided by Mr. Christopher Cash and Mr. Tad Taylor.
A barbecue for the wedding party was hosted by the couple on Friday evening at their home. On Saturday, a bridal luncheon and wine tasting was hosted by Trewhella- Grant and the bride's sister and mother at Vino 100, and the bridegroom hosted golf at Pebble Creek Country Club.
The couple resides in Simpsonville, South Carolina.
