Elfi Lilliana Hacker Elfi Lilliana Hacker The Board of Trustees for Workshop Theatre of South Carolina appointed Elfi Lilliana Hacker to the position of the executive director for the Theatre, effective January 1, 2009.

Workshop Theatre President Jack Jansen noted the theatre received 32 resumes from candidates interested in filling the position. Five board members interviewed nine candidates and selected two to be introduced to the entire board. "The two finalists had such interesting and diverse backgrounds that making a final decision was difficult for the review committee", noted Jansen. "In the end, Hacker's education, business background, and evident love for theater made the selection both logical and exciting for the board."

Currently a resident of Winnsboro, South Carolina, Hacker is the president and CEO/CFO of Hacker Instruments & Industries Inc. The company, established in 1942 by her father, William J. Hacker, offers an extensive line of pathology laboratory equipment, supplies, training, and service. She served in public relations and marketing from 1985 until taking over the leadership in 1988. The company relocated from Fairfield, New Jersey, to Winnsboro in 2004.

Hacker was educated at Aiglon College in Villars, Switzerland, received an associate degree in international studies & theatre arts from Franklin College in Lugano, Switzerland, and attended the Neue Munchener Schauspiel Schule (drama school) in Munich before earning a masters degree in 1979 from the Ludwig Maximillians Universitat in Munich, Germany.

After completing her education, Hacker worked

in public relations for Symbol

Magazine (a magazine dedicated to the friends of Ferrari, Riva, and Rolls Royce) in London (1979- 81) and for Ellesse Sportswear and apparel in Perugia, Italy (1981- 1982). She was also a runway model for European fashion designers and worked in television commercials, television series, and commercials (1974- 1984).

Hacker served on the board of directors and was involved with advertising, marketing, acting, and other duties with the Enchanted Players at the Darress Theatre in Boonton, New Jersey. In addition, she has served with the Pine Tree Playhouse in Winnsboro, S.C., where she has served on the board, acted, directed, and assisted in any way possible since 2004.

On a personal note, Hacker is a music lover and tries to find time to play her guitar. She also enjoys painting, photography, gardening, and gourmet cooking. Hacker has an 18- year - old daughter who is a journalism major at the University of South Carolina and an 11- year- old son who is a sixth grader at Richard Winn Academy. Both of her children are theatre enthusiasts and are very excited about their mother's move to Workshop Theatre.
