The Wilson Hall Barons ran 63 plays in their semifinal SCISA 3A playoff match- up with the Ben Lippen Falcons Friday, November 14. Of those plays, 37 were rushes by Wilson Hall running back Rickey Crum.

If something is working, why change?

Crum racked up 171 yards and three touchdowns while the rest of the Barons added 67 yards en route to a 24- 6 victory. The win earned Wilson Hall a trip to S.C. State University for Friday's final against two- time defending champion Hammond.

Many playoff games were postponed due to the sloppy weather conditions, but it was obvious why the Barons decided to play on. Crum and the Baron ground game powered through the sporatic rain and muddy field, but the Ben Lippen high- powered spread offense struggled.

The Falcons unlucky number seemed to be four all night. They lost four fumbles, quarterback Joey Carter was sacked four times, and the Falcons entered Wilson Hall territory just four times.

While the Falcons averaged 208 yards passing and 187 yards rushing during the regular season, they were held to just 186 yards total by the Wilson Hall defense.

Still Ben Lippen trailed just 14- 6 at the 5:30 mark of the third quarter. But the Barons put the game away with a 10 play, 56- yard drive that ended with a Crum nine- yard touchdown run with 28.8 seconds left in the third quarter.

After a Falcon turnover with 11:45 to go in the game, the Barons put together a 12 play, 54- yard drive ending in a Jordan Cannon field goal.
