PAALS (Palmetto Animal Assisted Life Services) and The Heartworm Project will hold Animals Helping People and People Helping Animals with a dog walk November 22, 2008 from 11 am to 3 pm at Saluda Shoals Park. A Chapin Chow Down will be held the night before at several local restaurants who will give part of their dinner proceeds to these two great charities.

This year's dog walk, Stroll on the Shoal will be a one mile fun walk with people and dogs, pet or rescue from The Heartworm Project. Each participant will also have the option to take part in a poker run game along the trail as they try to win some fabulous prizes that both people and pets will love. A free lunch and canvas bag will be included with each registration. The event will include police dog and horse demonstrations and dog training demonstrations.

The night before Stroll on the Shoal, the charities will co- host The Chapin Chowdown. A percentage of all sales from 5 pm to close will be donated to PAALS and the Heartworm Project. Participating restaurants are Chapin Station at 1260 Chapin Road, Chapin, SC 29036, and Bomb Island Grill 912 Chapin Road.

Those from PAALS and The Heartworm Project wish to educate and enlighten the community about their mission, goals, and the unique services provided and communicate the variety of needs these nonprofits face: raising, training, housing, transporting and lending service dogs for adults and children with physical disabilities and special needs.
