Bicyclists use our roads but ignore the laws

Columbia received the prestigious designation of Bicycle Friendly Community. It is true Columbia is bicycle friendly, but are bicyclists being responsible? Bicyclists use the same roads as we do and are supposed to follow the same rules as motorists. I have yet to see a bicyclist stop for a stop sign or a red light. The ones I have seen sometimes slow down a bit and move on leaving motorists following the rules of the road. I have yet to see a bicyclist get a ticket, but I have seen two get hit by cars.

There are more bicyclists now since the gas crunch, and it is frightening to me as a motorist that they ride on the same roads I do. Bicyclists are slower, harder to see, and are accidents waiting to happen.

Bicycle friendly to me means giving bicyclists their own lane to ride on. That would also be motorist friendly.
