Neo-conservative editor talks to 300

Standard and a noted neo- conservative political pundit on both national television and radio, was the featured speaker Tuesday night, Nov. 11. The standingroom- only event was on the ground floor of USC's Capstone. Kristol's lecture sponsor was the USC School of Journalism and Mass Communications, where Charles Bierbauer is the school dean.

Kristol is the son of Irving Kristol and Gertrude Himmerfarb of New York City. Irving Kristol was the managing editor of Commentary Magazine in the early 1950s. Since 1988, he has been the John M. Olin Distinguished Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute.

Kristol's undergraduate roommate at Harvard College was GOP presidential candidate Alan Keyes.

Dean Bierbauer reminded the crowd to expect more speakers of comparable quality sponsored by the J- School.
