News from Ridge View High School
•Ridge View High School JROTC, student activities, athletic teams, faculty, staff and students hosted a number of events to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
Male faculty members also participated in the Miss Understood Pageant. The contestant with the largest amount of money raised was crowned Miss Understood.
This year, Chris Nostrant (art teacher), was crowned Miss Understood by raising $1,000. The total raised from the pageant was $2,759.38. All proceeds go directly to the JDRF.
•RVHS art students, Angelica McGee, Kindra Robinson, Lydia Davidson, Ebone Kennedy, Ronnisha Willis, Lorenzo Brown, and Min Lee won awards in the student art competition at the South Carolina State Fair.
•Bruce Davis was recognized as a National Achievement Program Outstanding Participant.
•Twelve RVHS Seniors have received college acceptance letters: Natasha Moorman, USC Upstate; Alex Miller, Columbia College and USC Upstate; Brandi Quattlebaum, Florida A&M; Angelica Moore, USC Upstate; Ashley Greene, Columbia College and Coastal Carolina; Meredith Harris, Clemson University; Lauren Fink, Coastal Carolina; Charles McIntyre, Coastal Carolina; Erica Moore, Ogelthorpe; Mark Price, Anderson University; Alex Sanders, USC Upstate; and Bianca Young, Ogelthrope.
•The Blazer Band finished in fourth place at the 4A Upper State Preliminaries. The top six bands from Upper State and Lower State competed for the State Finals on October 25 with the band receiving fifth place.
