No delays for Airport

The Airport Eagles roll into the playoffs with a 62- 7 route of the Brookland- Cayce Bearcats Friday, October 31.
In a game filled with turnovers, Airport took advantage of those turnovers to pull away from the Bearcats. Brookland- Cayce turned the ball over seven times while Airport gave it away twice. Airport's W.T. Murden threw for 199 yards and one touchdown. He also ran for three touchdowns.
The Bearcats limped into the game led by sophomore quarterback Zach Warner who played for the injured Kenyatta Castleberry. The Bearcat's quarterback threw for 95 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions.
The first quarter was filled with turnovers and penalties by both teams. However, neither team was able to score.
The second quarter provided more fireworks. Airport finished off a drive, that was started late in the first quarter, with a 22- yard run by Murden for the score. Later in the quarter, Warner was picked off by Jared Brown. Brown returned the ball 21 yards for the touchdown. The extra point was no good, holding the score at 13- 0.

The Airport scoring wasn't over. Another turnover by Brookland- Cayce led to another touchdown by Murden. This time he ran it in from 15 yards out giving the Eagles a 27- 0 lead. Jackson provided a spark for the Bearcats as he returned the kickoff deep into Airport territory. The next play Warner connected with Jonathon Rumph for a 31- yard touchdown, cutting the deficit to 27- 7 as the half ended.
The Eagles received the opening kickoff of the second half. They drove down the field using a balance of runs and passes. Murden connected on a 12- yard pass to Sting Williams for the touchdown, tying Murden for the school record for touchdown passes and making the score 34- 7.
Later in the quarter, the Eagles turned another Brown interception into points. This time, Ricardo Jackson ran it in from seven yards out giving Airport a 41- 7 lead.
The Bearcats tried to respond, but turned the ball over yet again leading to more points by the Eagles. Jackson scored his second touchdown on the opening play of the fourth quarter making the score 48- 7.
The Bearcats offense went three- and- out giving Airport the ball for one more scoring drive. With a strong running combination of Jackson and Hudie Jones, Airport got into scoring position. The Eagles were able to cash in with a Jones one- yard plunge, extending the lead to 55- 7.
Again, Brookland- Cayce went three- and- out forcing them to punt. The Eagles blocked the punt. Josh Tucker recovered the loose ball and took it in for the score. The extra point made the final 62- 7.
