Public information discovery session at Governor's School
The South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) will hold a comprehensive, informational "Discovery Session" Saturday, November 15, 2 pm, at USC Columbia (Swearingen Engineering Building, Amoco Hall.)
Prospective high school sophomores and their parents are invited to attend. GSSM staff, current students and alumni will be on- hand to answer questions regarding the school, residence life, curriculum, and the admissions process.
Admission to GSSM is highly selective. Class rank, standardized test scores, recommendations, and extracurricular activities all are considered. The application deadline is March 1.
The South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics is a public, residential high school for academically talented and motivated juniors and seniors. GSSM's class of 2008 averaged 1383 on the SAT and earned $10.9 million in scholarships. For the third year in a row, the school was ranked a Top- 20 "public Neleiwtes"w eehkigh school by magazine.
