Chuck Jones Chuck Jones Culminating an extensive, national search, Heathwood Hall Episcopal School has named accomplished educator Chuck Jones its new head of school. He will assume his new position in the summer of 2009.

Jones currently serves as associate headmaster/ provost for Forsyth Country Day School in Lewisville, N.C. He holds an A.B. from Princeton University and an M.A. from Columbia University. Jones engaged in doctoral work at the University of Virginia before being called to Forsyth Country Day School. He has served as a coach, classroom teacher and school administrator. An Episcopalian, Jones has studied and taught religion and crafted religious curriculum.

"Chuck comes to us as a proven and thoughtful leader with academic credentials, career experience, talent and skills that are a match for Heathwood Hall's future," said Leighton Lord, chair of Heathwood Hall's Board of Trustees. "Chuck truly understands and appreciates what makes our school so special and intends to build upon its excellent reputation."

Jones succeeds Steve Hickman, who served as Heathwood Hall's head from 2000- 2008 before accepting the same position at an independent school in Little Rock, Ark., which is closer to his family. Steve Mandell and Anne Weston are serving as interim co- heads of school for the 2008- 2009 school year.

Jones and his wife, Shea, have three young children. Jones says he was attracted to Heathwood Hall from the beginning.

"From the first day I spent with faculty, students, and parents, I have been impressed by how universal the desire is at Heathwood Hall to individually take each child from where he or she is to where he or she needs to be - whether in the classroom, on the fields, in the arts, or in the nationallyrecognized outdoor education program," said Jones. "Heathwood Hall pours so many of its resources into the single- minded focus of 'what's best for kids' - an axiom that is far more discussed than executed in the world of education."

Heathwood Hall is an independent school that offers a college preparatory curriculum and a commitment to knowing each child well to students in nursery school (age three) through grade 12.
