Pursuant to a request by Richland County Council Chairman Joe McEachern, the Mungo family has agreed to donate 185 acres of woodland property to Richland County. This donation is in response to a challenge to the community by McEachern to protect and conserve land and historic sites.

This parcel is located in Northeast Columbia near Blythewood, and is adjacent to Sandlapper Elementary and Longleaf Middle Schools. This land could be used for interpretive learning centers, ball fields, or preserved as green space, according to Stewart Mungo and McEachern.
