Bearcats advance

The Brookland- Cayce Bearcats easily advanced to the second round of the playoffs with a three game sweep (25-11, 25-11, 25-21) of Battery Creek Tuesday, October 28. Despite slow starts in the first two games, the Bearcats were able to score in bunches to easily win the first two matches. Brookland- Cayce was led by Kristen Hutchins, Ally Greer, and Alex White.

In the first game, the Bearcats stumbled out of the gates, spotting Battery Creek an early 2- 1 lead. Points from Hutchins, White, and Greer gave Brookland- Cayce the lead and helped them build an 11- 5 lead as Battery Creek was forced to take a timeout. The Bearcats got points from Greer and Cleland to extend their lead and ultimately win game one 25- 11.

Game two was almost a carbon copy of game one. Battery Creek jumped out to an early lead, but the- Bearcats scored 11 of 14 points and scored eight out of the final ten points to win game two.

Game three saw Brookland- Cayce come storming out of the gates to take a 7- 2 lead, but Dolphins came back to tie the score at 10- 10. White helped close the deal for the Bearcats, providing the last point to win the game, 25- 21, and the match 3- 0.
