The Palmetto Auburn Club and the Auburn Alumni Association have recently unveiled the new South Carolina Auburn tag. They must collect 400 pre- paid applications before the SC DMV will produce the first tag.

The tags will cost $70 every two years in addition to the normal SC DMV fee of $24. The first 100 tag numbers have been reserved and are available for assignment for an additional one- time contribution of $100 to the Palmetto Auburn Club Scholarship. Tag numbers greater than 100 will be assigned by the SC DMV.

The best thing about the tag is that up to 94% of the fees collected from sale of these tags will go back to Auburn to sponsor scholarships for S.C. students. In most states, other than Alabama, the money collected from the sale of tags goes to their coffers. In S.C.'s case, most of the money collected will provide scholarships for SC students to attend Auburn University.
