Killian Elementary School's media specialist, Gai l King and her assistant Pam George enhanced a lesson for Kindergartners by baking cupcakes with the students. The lesson fit into the Kindergar ten unit on "taste," and King's unit on community building. Students learned certain ingredients make terrific cupcakes and there are also specific ingredients needed for a great class. As King poured the final mixture George read the story Cookies: bite- size life lessons by Amy Rosenthal. The climax to the lesson came when the children, who had devoured the story, could devour their cupcakes.
