      All Richland One students and their families are invited to celebrate the joy of reading at Reading Rocks, the district's annual literacy extravaganza, on Saturday, October 25, 9 am to 12:30 pm on the Olympia Learning Center campus, 621 Bluff Road.

      Internationally acclaimed choir Gloriae Dei Cantores (Singers to the Glory of God) will be performing in West Columbia at Mt.Tabor Lutheran Church, on October 30, 7 pm, with a pre- concert lecture at 6 pm and reception following, as part of their Fall 2008 U.S. Tour.

Out of the Darkness Community Walk for Suicide Prevention
      On Sunday, October 19, over 400 people walked in Columbia's Fourth Annual Out of the Darkness Community Walk for Suicide Prevention. One group of survivors was walking in memory of Jason Pressley of Easley. Jason was diagnosed as bipolar and took his life at age 25 in April 2000.
