•Ridge View High School art students, Angelica McGee, Kindra Robinson, Lydia Davidson, Ebone Kennedy, Ronnisha Willis, Lorenzo Brown, and Min Lee won awards in the student art competition at the South Carolina State Fair.
•Bruce Davis has been recognized as a National Achievement Program Outstanding Participant.
•Ten RVHS Seniors have received college acceptance letters: Kara Mattacks, Columbia College; Jennifer Hundley, Columbia College; Michael Squirewell, The Art Institute of Charleston; Ashley Bautista, Midlands Technical College Pre- Nursing Program; Treanudria Powell, American Intercontinental University; Tiffany Leggon, Nascar Technical Institute; Steffon Batts, Air Force Academy; Alejandro Fonseca, Charleston Southern; Alexandria Miller, Valdosta State University; Pretrena Phill, American Barber Institute.
•The Blazer Band finished in fourth place at the Olde English Festival of Bands on October 4. Eight bands were selected from the preliminaries to advance to the finals.
•On October 11, the strongest orchestra students from Lexington, Richland, and Aiken counties auditioned to participate in the 2006 Midlands Region Orchestra. Of the 144 students accepted from the three counties, 59 are from Richland School District Two. Ridge View students who were commended for their hard work and dedication are Briana Thompson, Taylor Toves, Christine Arroyo, Chantal Jules, and Lindsay Ferguson.
•Senior Jarvis Davis and Junior Michael Green have been invited to participate in the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association (SCBCA) Elite Camp. The SCBCA Elite Camp is an invitation only camp where the top eight players from South Carolina are invited to participate.
•The 2008 ED- OP College Fair will be held on October 28 at RVHS. Over 60 colleges and universities will be present. The purpose of the ED- OP Program is to provide a chance for high school students, particularly juniors and seniors, to be exposed to many different educational opportunities and to explore scientific interests.
•RVHS held Homecoming Week September 29- October 3. Homecoming king and queen for 2008 are Louis Hargrove and Nicole Lagombra.
•The next School Improvement Council meeting with will be held Monday, November 3, at 7 pm in the RVHS Media Center. The SIC is a group of parents, students, community members, teachers, and administrators who help advise the principal and actively seek ways to improve the school. Moment for M om on Wednesday, November 12, from 8 am- 9:30 am in the Media Center.
•The Adult Education Program of Richland School District 2 is enrolling for the 2008- 09 school year. Registration is required for all classes for individuals 17 years of age and older. Courses being offered at the center are GED preparation, HSAP remediation, WorkKeys, Skill Lab. and Introduction to Computers I & II. All classes meet at the Rogers Center, 750 Old Clemson Road. •On November 4, 2008, Richland Two will ask voters to vote for a bond referendum of $306 million to build four elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and one magnet center.
