The Cat in the Hat made an appearance at the opening of the art show Dr. Seuss for President which opened at HoFP Gallery, 2828 Devine Street, October 14 and runs through election day, November 4. A. C. Moore Elementary School second grader Emily Branham (left) was one of the coloring contest winners. The contest involved teachers and students in discussion of social, environmental, and political implications that Theodore Seuss Geisel spent so much time instilling in his books. The show offers a glimpse into one of the world's most celebrated icons. It features imagery from politically charged artworks, books, editorial cartoons, and the first ever release of Knotty Problems, a thought- provoking cartoon focused on the issue of taxes and Capitol Hill created by Seuss in 1942. The first ever print of the Triple Sling Jigger from Seuss's controversial Butter Battle Book, which focuses on nuclear proliferation, will also be included.
