Four Richland One students named 2009 National Achievement Program semifinalists
Four Richland One students have been named semifinalists in the prestigious and highly competitive 2009 National Achievement Scholarship Program.
This honor recognizes outstanding African- American high school seniors who are the highest scorers in their state on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Richland One's 2009 National Achievement Program semifinalists are:
•Jasmine Ayers, A. C. Flora High School
•Alexandria Griddine, Dreher High School
•Leandra Lacy, Dreher High School
•Raven Stevenson, Lower Richland High School
These Richland One students will compete with 1,600 others across the nation for college scholarships worth more than $2.6 million dollars.
To advance to the finalist level, semifinalists must have a record of high academic performance in high school, be endorsed and recommended by the school principal, earn high SAT scores, and be actively involved in his or her school and community. Scholarships will be awarded to finalists in the spring.
