The Hammond Skyhawks crowned a Homecoming Queen and racked up another victory September 26 by defeating Porter Gaud 29- 21.

Mason Castles was selected as the queen, while the Hammond offense was king. The Skyhawks blitzed Porter Gaud for 483 total yards. Les Cotter had 19 rushes for 150 yards and a touchdown while Kyle George had 112 yards and three touchdowns on 22 rushes. George also had four receptions for 85 yards. He has 418 yards rushing and 314 yards receiving through five games.

Taylor Smith had five receptions for 81 yards. He leads the Skyhawks with 21 receptions, 477 yards, and two touchdowns on the season. Aaron Walters caught two passes for 26 yards to add to his season total of 21 catches for 285 yards.

Quarterback Cliff Ayers had an average game (for him) completing 14- of- 22 passes for 208 yards. Still, that was impressive considering the wet weather and the fact he threw zero interceptions. Ayers has 1,277 yards passing, eight touchdowns and five interceptions after five games this year.

Austin Hoover led the team with six tackles. Will Patterson added five tackles including two for loss. Patterson leads Hammond with 52 tackles and seven sacks. Raymond Prince also had five tackles including one for loss. Robert Simmons had four and Ruskin Foster had a sack.

The Skyhawks will travel to Ben Lippen October 3.
