Bethea named CIAA Rookie of the Week
Former Dreher star Nick Bethea Lawrenceville, VA: Saint Paul's running back Nicholas Bethea earned CIAA Rookie of the Week for his spectacular efforts in the Tigers' game against the Fayetteville State University Broncos on Saturday, September 20, 2008. Bethea is a 5ft. 10in., 185 lb freshman running back recruit from Dreher High School.
As a participant in only his second collegiate football contest this past Saturday, Bethea ran the ball 17 times for the Tigers gaining 125 yards. At the conclusion of the first half of the game, Bethea had rushed for 110 yards on eight carries.
Bethea's short career at the College has proven to be promising. In his first collegiate appearance against the Webber International University Warriors, Bethea displayed his talent in storybook form as he returned the opening kick- off 85 yards for a touchdown. Later on in the game, Bethea struck again by scoring for a second time on a 19- yard rush. Bethea finished the game with 142 all- purpose yards, 57 of those yards were on offense.
In just two games, Bethea has earned a total of 182 rushing yards on 29 carries with an average of 6.2 yards per carry.
