Cavs send 'Wolves home with their tails between their legs
Richland Northeast quarterback Kersean Wilson throws a pass against White Knoll. The Richland Northeast Cavaliers destroyed the visiting White Knoll Timberwolves 40- 7 in a rain- soaked Harry Parone Stadium September 26.
The Cavaliers out gained White Knoll 311 total yards to 99. Richland Northeast had 247 yards rushing to the Timberwolves' 14.
Gee Greene led the Cavaliers with 164 yards rushing and one touchdown.
Quarterback Kersean Wilson passed for 68 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 33 yards and a touchdown. Jeremy Posey had two receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown and Kenny Upshaw caught a 28- yard touchdown pass from Wilson.
Richland Northeast got on the board with their second possession of the game. After a 28- yard run by Greene on a secondand- 22 put the Cavaliers at the White Knoll 28 yard line, Wilson found Upshaw down the middle of the field at the 5:28 mark of the first quarter to give Richland Northeast a 6- 0 lead.
Greene struck again three minutes later with 49- yard touchdown run. He cut across midfield then outran the White Knoll defense to the right corner of the end zone to give the Cavaliers a 12- 0 lead.
Jeremy Posey catches a touchdown pass against White Knoll. Then with 30 seconds remaining in the first quar- ter, the Cavaliers blocked a Timberwolf punt at the 19- yard line, and scored three plays later on an Upshaw reverse to start the second quarter giving Rich- land Northeast a 19- 0 lead.
A possession later, Wilson connected with Posey for a 23- yard touchdown pass.
After Donavan Belton intercepted a Timberwolf pass at the White Knoll 29 yard line, Wilson walked in seven plays later to put the Cavs up 33- 0 at halftime.
The Timberwolves finally got on the board aided by a shanked punt that gave them the ball at the Richland Northeast 28 yard line. Quarterback Dalton Taylor hit Hunter Counts for a seven- yard score cutting the Cav lead to 33- 7.
Back- up quarterback Derek Frost started the fourth quarter and ended the scoring with an 11- yard touchdown run up the middle of the White Knoll defense for the 40- 7 final.
