Arthur Goforth ignored the sloppy field and rainy conditions to carry the Keenan Raiders to a 22- 10 victory over visiting Dreher at Bolden Stadium on September 26. Goforth's 205 yards and two touchdowns sent Keenan to a 4- 1 record. The teams combined for 11 fumbles and Dreher lost three.

With rain pouring down for most of the first half, running the ball was the only viable option for each team. Dreher put together a strong first drive, eating up yardage on inside traps and power runs by Sheldon Van Dyke. Leonard Kennsedy and Devante Sims were used as change of pace backs and the Blue Devils reached the 20- yard line of Keenan. But a fourth down incompletion gave the ball to the Raiders near the end of the quarter.

When the second quarter began, in the strongest rain of the night, Goforth took a handoff, cut to the right, avoided two tacklers, and took off down the Dreher sideline for an 88- yard touchdown, the game's first score.

A 26- yard William Moore field goal gave the Raiders a 10- 0 lead after a Dreher fumbled snap gave Keenan good field position. Dreher responded with a 56- yard run by Sims, dragging defenders inside the ten- yard line. The Blue Devils settled for a Kurt Stoudenmire 25- yard field goal and a 10- 3 deficit.

Goforth's 38- yard run on the next possession put Keenan in position to score again, but a Farrington Huguenin sack of Keenan quarterback Antonio Perry and a fourth down stop by the Blue Devils kept the score 10- 3 at half.

As halftime began, the rain finally stopped, and the field was opened up for passing for the first time. The Raiders took immediate advantage of the dry balls as Perry connected with Marvin Poole. Running a no- huddle, spread offense, Perry found Poole on a 19- yard pass on third down and a 27- yard screen pass deep into Dreher territory. Goforth scampered into the end zone on a 12- yard run to put Keenan ahead 16- 3.

Dreher used a nice kickoff return by Kennedy to earn good field position on its first drive of the second half. But a big hit by Keenan's Matthew Johnson set up an Anthony Parminter interception of Dreher's Jacob Gindman. Parminter returned the interception 52- yards for a touchdown and a 22- 3 Raider advantage.

Dem ons V an Dyke brought Dreher back into the game on the first possession of the fourth quarter. After a 12- yard rumble and several pounding runs straight up the middle, Van Dyke reached across the goal line from nine yards out to cut into the Raider lead. Dreher kicked onside, but Keenan recovered at midfield.

Keenan threatened again as Goforth carried 19- yards to put the Raiders inside the Dreher ten- yard line, but successive sacks by Jabril Williams and Huguenin pushed Keenan to a fourth and goal from the 28- yard line.

Stopping Keenan, Dreher hurried down field with quick passes. A 13- yard completion to Sims and a fourth down pass for 23- yards to Chad Jasper allowed the Blue Devils to creep toward the end zone. But Keenan's Philip George leapt high to intercept a Gindman pass bound for Jasper in the end zone with 1:08 to play, sealing Keenan's fourth victory on the season.
