The Brookland- Cayce Bearcats extended their winning streak to three games with a 3- 2 (15- 25, 25- 22, 25- 21, 22- 25, 15- 11) win over rival Airport September 30 at Airport. The match took five games and saw 36 ties and 31 lead changes. Airport was led by Taniqua Canzater, Jordan Turner, and Whitney Brown, while B- C leaned on Alley Greer and Alex White to carry them.

The first game was owned by the Eagles. Despite being tied twice with the Bearcats early on, Airport opened an 8- 4 lead. Brookland- Cayce fought back with points from White and Candice Shice to close the score to 9- 8. The Eagles then went on a run, led by four straight points from Turner to open up a 14- 9 lead that seemed to push momentum clearly to Airport. Despite another rally by the Bearcats that closed the gap to 17- 15, the Eagles scored eight straight points to win the first game, 25- 15.

The Bearcats fought back in game two. They forced three ties before taking a 7- 6 lead. The Eagles, behind the scoring of Turner and Canzater fought back, closing the score to 21- 19. Their efforts were helped by several mistakes made by the Bearcats. On the brink of giving up the lead, Brookland- Cayce scored the next three points, two of them coming off thunderous spikes by White and Greer.

Another Airport rally tightened the score at 24- 22 in the favor of Brookland- Cayce. It was White with one last spike to close out the game and help the Bearcats tie up the match.

The third game was full of ties and lead changes. After Airport led 4- 2, neither team held a lead larger than one point until the Eagles led 21- 19. In that span alone there were 16 ties and 12 lead changes. Despite being down by two points, Brookland- Cayce used the scoring from Ashlan Diaz and Kristen Hutchins to take the lead and ultimately put the game away. By scoring the last five points, the Bearcats won the game 25- 21, to give them a 2- 1 lead.

Game four was more of the same. Brookland- Cayce took an early 3- 1 lead before Airport fought back. The teams went back and forth once more before Airport grabbed hold of the lead at 9- 8. Behind more mistakes by the Bearcats and scoring from Turner and Canzater, the Eagles took control of the game. Several times Brookland- Cayce cut the lead down to just a point only to see Airport hold on and win the game forcing a fifth and final game.

As had been the way for most of the match, the fifth game was filled with ties and lead changes. Brookland- Cayce held off many ties forced by Airport to hold an early lead, but the Eagles finally broke through to take an 8- 6 lead. A fierce rally by the Bearcats behind the scoring of White and Greer gave Brookland- Cayce a 13- 10 lead as Airport took a time out. Despite Airport's hopes of breaking the Bearcats' momentum, Brookland- Cayce scored two of the next three points to win the game and the match.

Brookland- Cayce improved to 5- 6 (4- 1 in Region V- AAA), while the loss dropped Airport to 8- 3 (3- 2 in Region V- AAA).
