Bearcats sweep Blue Devils
      Brookland- Cayce got a rare break from what has been a tough schedule that has them at 3- 6 (2- 1 in Region V- AAA) with a victory against Dreher Tuesday, September 23. The Bearcats received strong performances from Mackenzie Cleland, Kristen Hutchens, Ebony McBride, and Alex White. Dreher also received strong performances from Tikka McNeal, Erin Hollier, and Carson Bowman.

Cards and 'Hawks in five set battle
      The Cardinal Newman volleyball team travelled to Hammond Tuesday, September 23 and came away with a hard- fought and important 3- 2 victory over the Lady Skyhawks in SCISA Region I- AAA.

Bearcats take third at tourney
GIRLS GOLF
      The Brookland- Cayce Lady Bearcats' golf team played host to 12 teams from around the Midlands and beyond at Charwood Country Club on Saturday September 20. Teams played 18 holes on the Red and the White courses in beautiful weather. The event raised money for the Rally for the Cure Campaign and was held in honor of B- C Coach Roger Smith's parents who each died of cancer.

      No last second two- point conversions were tried this year, though Bacon Bowl X was a good, close game that came down to the end once again. Dreher scored first but could not hold the lead as A.C.

The streak is over!
Bearcats end 14- game losing skid, while Capitals lose another key player.
      Brookland- Cayce 20 Columbia 6 Jonathon Rumph's 13- yard touchdown reception with three seconds left in the first half gave Brookland- Cayce all the scoring it would need to win its first game since October 20, 2006. The Bearcats scored twice more in the fourth quarter and defeated Columbia 20- 6 on September 19 at Memorial Stadium.

Ben Lippen 7 Heathwood Hall 24
      The Heathwood Hall Highlanders jumped out to a 14- 0 lead on the legs of Mac Whalen and Walker Sojurner and eventually beat the visiting Ben Lippen Falcons 24- 7 Friday, September 19. Whalen raced 38 yards to open the scoring with 2:21 remaining in the first quarter. Sojurner scored on a six- yard run at the 9:01 mark of the second quarter.

Ridge View 7 Richland Northeast 28
      Richland Northeast's Kenny Upshaw took the opening kickoff 84 yards to the Ridge View nine yard and the Cavaliers never looked back as they cruised to a convincing 28- 7 victory over the Blazers Friday, September 19 at Harry Parone stadium.

Cards blank Eagles
Florence- Christian 0 Cardinal Newman 28
      Davis Lemon ran for 88 yards and two touchdowns, and Cardinal Newman forced five turnovers in a 28- 0 whitewashing of Florence Christian on Homecoming, Friday, September 19. The Cardinals (2- 2) controlled the ball for over 29 minutes, thanks to those five turnovers and an aggressive pass defense, which caused the Eagles (1- 3) to finish 8- for- 23 passing.
